Professor Xia Nianhe, a bamboo expert from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his team have been conducting bamboo surveys in the Danxia Mountain area in Shaoguan, Guangdong for many years. 

多年来中科院竹子专家夏念和教授团队一直坚持在广东韶关丹霞山区域开展竹类调查。

In September 2020, Professor Xia’s team discovered an unknown bamboo plant, which was named “Xiaoma bamboo” (Dendrocalamus pulverulentoides N. H. Xia et al.) after careful sample inspection.

2020年9月，夏念和教授团队在丹霞山发现了一种未知的竹类植物，经过仔细的标本检查之后，团队成员将其命名为小麻竹。

The investigation is still ongoing, which will have a significant impact on the biodiversity research and the exploitation and utilization of bamboo resources in Mt. Danxia.

目前相关调查仍在持续进行中，将对丹霞山的生物多样性研究以及竹类资源的开发与利用产生重大影响。
