As the old saying applies, “No Cantonese opera without the Chou role” has showcased the importance of the Chou figures in a Cantonese opera play. 

粤剧表演中常说“无丑不成戏”。

The Chou role, also known as the clown, is one of the ten characters in traditional Cantonese opera. 

丑是传统戏曲的脚色名称，早期粤剧十大行当之一。

Commonly, they serve to the supporting roles appearing in an opera and are responsible for making the audience laugh.

通常扮演剧中次要角色，以插科打诨、滑稽调笑为主。

Recently, the national first-class actor, Wang Yanfei, held a special performance, which was both solemn and humorous. His lifelike imitations also wowed the audience. 

近日，国家一级演员王燕飞近日举行专场表演，庄谐并重，出神入化的角色塑造逗得观众哈哈大笑。
