Chaoshan pickles are exported to large markets at home and abroad

The Chaoshan area is rich in fruits, vegetables and beans, so farmers often use salt to pickle vegetables for long-term preservation.

潮汕地区盛产果蔬豆类,农户们常用盐腌制成咸菜,以备日后长期保存食用。

Its production techniques have a history of thousands of years, so that almost every household is engaged in pickles production related business in Pengzhong Village, Shantou City. 

其制作技艺迄今已有上千年历史,在汕头市蓬中村,几乎家家户户都从事着与咸菜制作相关的营生。

Nowadays, pickles are not only a “homesick dish” connecting Chaoshan people at home and abroad, but also pave a new way for villagers to get rid of poverty through modern agriculture.

现在,咸菜不仅是连结海内外潮人的“思乡菜”,更是为村民们铺就一条脱贫致富的现代化农业新路。
