As a representative of the dragon boat culture in Chaoshan area, Guangdong, Chao’an dragon boat has integrated traditional culture, crafts and customs such as Chaozhou wood carving, Chaozhou embroidery, colored painting, shipbuilding, etc into its design. 

潮安龙舟，是广东潮汕地区龙舟文化的一块代表性招牌，集潮州木雕、潮绣、彩绘、造船等传统文化、工艺、风俗于一体。

The typical Chao’an dragon boat painting usually features a dragon, phoenix, horse and other auspicious patterns on the hull of the ship. Its vibrant colors compete with each other——a must-see event in the dragon boat race. It takes 4 or 5 people to finish the painting job on a 21-meter-long dragon boat in 6 days. 

其中，潮安龙舟彩绘是在船身画上龙凤马等吉祥图案。由于彩绘带来的鲜艳外表，争相攀比谁更夺目，成了龙舟赛时一场不可错过的重头戏。一条21米长龙舟的彩绘工作，一般需要四五个人一起耗时6天才能完成。
